ICT Baseline Standards

ICT Enrichment Programme: Baseline ICT Standard 

Our ICT Enrichment Programme are intregated into our curriculum and topics, enhancing their learning experience. Baseline ICT Standards is a set of ICT skill competencies set out in progressive Key Stages. These represent the basic level of knowledge, skills and values that pupils need in order to fully benefit from a curriculum enriched with ICT, and eventually thrive in a technology-driven society. These standards have been benchmarked against overseas ICT standards as well as curriculum and existing practices in our schools.

Pupils will be assessed during their course of study in the school, with the knowledge of the pupils' competence, we can ensure that they have the knowledge to operate and benefit from the use of ICT. 

Below are the skill sets that our students will be learning in our ICT Enrichment Programmes and 1:1 Computing lessons:.

Basic Operations (K)
Navigate in a Graphical User Interface (GUI)
  • Move within application software and digital resources
  • Recognise icons (e.g. minimise button, folder) 
Use Application Software, Files and Folders
  • Locate and access files
  • Open and close application software (e.g. Internet browsers and word processors) and digital resources (e.g. online games and simulations) 
Work across Multiple Applications 
  • Transfer content from one application to another
Manage Files and Folders
  • Organise files and folders (e.g. create a new folder, copy and rename files and folders)
Learning With Searches (H)
Internet navigation and search 
Use Digital Resources from Specified Sources
  • Access Internet sources with given URLs and specified hyperlinks
Search and Gather Information from the Internet
  • Locate resources with search engines using keywords
  • Organise URLs and files 
Learning With Text (T)
Word processing 
Create a Text Document 
  • Text includes numbers, punctuation marks, upper and lower case letters
  • Progress from typing letters to words, phrases, and then short sentences and paragraphs 
Edit and Format Words, Phrases and Sentences
  • Add, remove and replace words, phrases and sentences
  • Change appearance of text (e.g. size, style, colour) 
Edit and Format Paragraphs of Text
  • Paragraphs include symbols and special characters • Organise paragraphs (e.g. bulleted or numbered styles)
  • Add, remove and replace paragraphs 
Combine Multimedia with Text and Graphics in a Presentation
  • Tables include text and numbers
  • Change properties of tables (e.g. width of columns, height of rows)
  • Graphics include pictures, clip art and drawings 
Learning With Multimedia (M)
Production and manipulation of multimedia content 
Create a Presentation with Text and Graphics
  • Presentation should contain about one to three slides and include text and graphics
  • Graphics include pictures, clip art and drawings 
Edit and Format Text and Graphics
  • Change appearance (e.g. size, colour) and position of text and graphics
  • Organise text (e.g. bulleted and numbered styles) 
Combine Multimedia with Text and Graphics in a Presentation
  • Presentations should be animated and contain media files (e.g. video, audio) 
Learning With Spreadsheet (S) Data management and processing 
Create a Spreadsheet
  • Enter data (e.g. text, numbers) into cells
Edit and Format Data and Cells
  • Change data in cells
  • Change appearance of cells (e.g. width of columns, height of rows) 
Manage and Process Small Data Sets
  • Small data sets should not exceed 20 cells of data
  • Use simple formulae with at least one basic operation (+, -, *, / ) 
Learning with Communication Tools (C)
Online communication 
Communicate Online
  • Use applications or devices to exchange information over the Internet e.g. using emails
  • Publish and share information over the Internet, e.g. using blogs (single-author) 
Learning With Data Collection Tools (D)

  • Use data collection tools to record pictures, sounds, videos or other data e.g. using image, sound, video capture devices and dataloggers
