COVID-19 Virus: SAJS Enhanced Precautionary Measures on Dismissal and School Programmes (21 Feb 2020)

21 February 2020

COVID-19 Virus: SAJS Enhanced Precautionary Measures on Dismissal and School Programmes (21 Feb 2020)

Dismissal from School

1. The school cares for the well-being of all our students, staff and parents. In view of the stepped up precautionary measures due to the COVID-19 situation, the school has sent out an advisory on school dismissal on 5 Feb to advise parents on how to avoid mass gathering while waiting at the side gate during dismissal time to reduce human-to-human interaction.

2. We have observed that there is still a congregation of parents at the side gate during dismissal time due to the limited space we have. While we have no means to expand the waiting area, we could make better use of the space under the sheltered pavement, outside the gate and at the opposite side of the road.

3. To reduce physical interactions at the waiting area, minimise mingling of Saints from different levels and expedite the dismissal process, the school has marked out specific areas under the sheltered pavement for P3 to P6 parents/caregivers to meet our Saints. We seek your cooperation to wait at the designated area

4. You are strongly encouraged to wait at the carpark area or at the void deck of the block of flats opposite the school, if your child/ward is able to cross the pedestrian crossing safely on his own. Rest assured that our staff will be deployed at the traffic light to supervise the crossing. This would reduce the proximity between you and the crowds and minimise the duration of time you are exposed to them.

5. We seek your understanding and cooperation to leave the space at the waiting area inside the school for the parents of Primary 1 and 2 children as teachers need to hand over the children personally to the parents for safety reasons.

6. I would like to express our sincere appreciation to our parents for your understanding and cooperation to abide with the measures implemented to better protect our Saints community during this COVID-19 epidemic.

School Programmes: Academic Support in lieu of Supplementary Lessons for Primary 6

1. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the school has suspended several school programmes to avoid intermingling of students from different levels and this includes supplementary lessons for all levels.

2. To support our Primary 6 Saints in their learning, the school will be providing the following academic support in lieu of supplementary lessons for the period of time before supplementary lessons resume:

(a) Additional learning resources, worksheets, exercises will be made available upon request

(b) Consultation sessions with subject teachers will be made available upon request

3. If your child/ward needs the additional academic support, they can approach their subject teachers to arrange for consultation sessions to go through any questions or problems with their learning. The consultation schedule will be based on the subject teachers’ availability and could possibly take place in the mornings between 7am and 7.20am, during recess time or after school hours. Do encourage your child/ward to make prior arrangements with their subject teachers.

4. If your child/ward is making an appointment to consult with his teacher after school hours, please make the necessary transport arrangements for him.

5. Subject teachers will note in his Personal Organiser the date, start and end time of the consultation session for your information.

6. Do feel free to contact your child/ward’s subject teachers if you would like to know their schedule available for consultations.

7. Thank you.

Warmest regards,

Ms Patsy Neo

Principal
